Evocations for trumpet and organ
The calm interrogative musical calls of the Introduction invite to a peaceful and spiritual listening.
Evocation I takes inspiration from Gregorian plainchant (introduced in the liturgy by Pope Gregory I [* 540- † 604] in the 6th century).
Evocation II begins with a jubilant melody that serves as a backdrop for the chorale of JS Bach's cantata 93 Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten [The one who lets God reign over his life] whose words deliver a message of trust. In the last measures of the work, the intimate voice of the trumpet (with soft mute) whispers slow and simple notes on soothing chords.
