To you lovers of string quartets! You did not wait in vain. Indeed, with this publication of quartets in C sharp minor op. 131 and in A minor op. 132, Henle launches Beethoven's series of late string quartets, according to the only authoritative Urtext version, that of the complete edition of Beethoven's Works. It goes without saying that the greatest care has been taken to facilitate page changes. At the same time, the quartets appear in the form of "study partitions", identical in text. The editor, Emil Platen, comments in detail on each of these editions in a preface, in the form of explanatory notes as well as in the context of detailed remarks. Editions G. Henle will later publish, as part of a complete edition, all of the composer's late quartets. Franz Beyer, the foremost in string quartets, about this novelty: "The most important edition published worldwide in the past two decades!"
