Beethoven's five cello and piano sonatas, along with Bach's cello suites, represent the pinnacle of cello literature. Published between 1797 and 1817, they cover a large part of the composer's creative period and reflect important stations in his musical evolution. This revised edition is based on the results of the "Kritischer Bericht" (published in autumn 2008) of the "Beethoven-Gesamtausgabe", the complete edition of Beethoven's works. The Urtext edition benefits from an entirely new typographic composition, the piano part taking up the proven layout of the previous edition. Renowned cellist David Geringas designed a completely reorganized cello part with optimized page changes. In addition, this edition includes another Urtext part without fingerings.
