Arrangers: Anne Maireaux Chloé Sévère The purpose of the transcription of these Sonatas is to provide violists, whether playing on modern instruments or on old instruments, the musical, stylistic and technical quintessence of the violin art at the beginning of the year. We strove scrupulously to respect the original manuscript of Corelli and, for the ornamentation of the slow movements, the edition realized by Estienne Roger where we find the "Adagios composed by Mr Corelli as he plays them". A realization of the basso continuo is proposed but this edition allows of course the continuists to exercise their talents (part of cello alone provided). This first notebook contains Sonatas 1, 2 and 3 which are similar to the form Sonata da chiesa. Some movements of these Sonatas can be approached during Cycle 2, others require greater instrumental mastery.
