As with Albéniz's famous "Asturias", the guitar transcription of "Mallorca" is much more popular than the original piano version. Albéniz probably composed this delicate and romantic "Barcarolle" during his second trip to Mallorca in May 1890. He remained faithful to what he preferred above all, namely to describe musically the regions of his country. It is said that Enrique Granados, who worshiped Albéniz as a friend and protector, would have put himself at the piano in the dying Albéniz's room, profoundly touching him by his interpretation of "Mallorca". Our edition offers to the pianists this refined work according to the fidelity of characteristic text of the Henle house and a convincing quality of engraving.
