The duets of César Franck are miniatures with very refined harmonies. The Guardian Angel (1864), The Little Children and The Virgin at the Nativity Scene (1887-1888), a small range and a deliberately simple and naive style are very suitable for children's voices. The dances of Lormont and the song of the basket maker (1889), on secular themes have a more brilliant character. These five duets, relatively unknown, deserve a place of choice in the repertoire of children's choirs, but also sets of adults with equal voices, thanks to the quality of their poetry and the variety of their musical writing.
