This facsimile reproduces the copy of the British Library, the only one complete. A modern edition, already old, took again the incomplete copy of the National Library of France.
This second book of harpsichord pieces is interesting in more than one way: the rooms of the suite, very characterized, are classic models - most of the pieces are of very limited difficulty, and therefore within the reach of young students - the The book is a pivotal period during which both pre-classical (see Lebègue's Motet Book) and the nascent classical ornamentation are used. Marie Demeilliez's preface is remarkably well documented. The old engraving is very clear.
