These Three Nocturnes were published in 1850 simultaneously in two versions: the first for high voice and piano, the second for solo piano. In this last, the words of the lied are placed before the music (N ° 1 Hohe Liebe, N ° 2 Seliger Tod: words of Ludwig Uhland, N ° 3 O lieb, so lang Du lieben kannst: words of Ferdinand Freiligrath). The third Liebestraum - written in the purest night-time tradition - is one of the most played pieces of all piano literature, certainly as it is, although considered a piece of bravery, still accessible to the seasoned amateur pianist (6 / 7 on our difficulty scale).
