Alexander Scriabine

Alexandre Scriabine occupies a special place among Russian composers for piano at the turn of the 20th century. In fact, from his first compositions, his writing went beyond the Chopinian traditions of his contemporaries Glazunov and Rachmaninov. This is particularly the case with his innumerable preludes, 24 of which are brought together in his opus 11 and in which he explores one by one all the major and minor tones. However, despite strict respect for the order of the fifth cycle, he insisted that "each prelude could exist as a small composition, independent and independent of the other preludes". The comparison between the autograph sources and the first edition of 1897 allows this urtext edition published by Henle to correct some inaccuracies and printing errors. A grandiose work that all pianists should put in their repertoire!
