In the years 1713/1714, Bach, then court organist in Weimar, adapted numerous concertos by contemporary composers for keyboard or organ alone. More than 20 years later, the Concerto according to Italian taste that he published in 1735 is a personal work that can undoubtedly be called the pinnacle of the genre. No manuscript copy of this concerto has come down to posterity, so the Henle-Urtext edition uses the first edition corrected by Bach as its main source. The strong and piano indications already present in this edition mark the alternation between the tutti and solo passages.
