DEBUSSY CLAUDE - Ballet DEBUSSY CLAUDE - Cortège DEBUSSY CLAUDE - En bateau DEBUSSY CLAUDE - Menuet
Debussy produced this suite in four movements in 1888, when he had just returned from Italy, where he had stayed at the Villa Medici in Rome, after obtaining his Prix de Rome and receiving a scholarship . He played the suite at the Paris Conservatory in 1889, accompanied by Paul Dukas, obtaining wide success. As one of the students present that day, Henri Busser orchestrated the cycle in 1907, while Debussy had already enjoyed a certain reputation for a long time. Debussy immediately thanked Busser in a letter in which he congratulated him on his "ingenious orchestration". Whether given in its original version or in one of its many arrangements, the work is one of Debussy's most played compositions today.
