Beethoven's cantatas are today certainly among his least known compositions, even though they were, as works of circumstances linked to events in social and political life, not insignificant for the composer. Composed again in Bonn in 1790, the two “Kaiser-Kantaten” (“Cantates de l'Empereur”) WoO 87 and 88 remained however playful during Beethoven's lifetime - it was only a century later that research work on Beethoven rediscovered them, allowing you to admire their depth of feeling. The cantata composed on the occasion of the official ceremony of the end of the war in 1814, "Der glorreiche Augenblick" ("Le glorieux moment"), on the other hand, was received with an enthusiastic reception by the public, during its creation in Vienna - and, its hymn "Europa bin ich - nicht mehr eine Stadt" ("I am Europe - and no longer a city"), gives it a burning character again today. The practical study edition offers the musical text of the complete edition of Beethoven's works, accompanied by a remarkable preface by Beethoven researcher Ernst Herttrich - this is undoubtedly an opportunity to discover the unknown Beethoven too!
