The 24 Preludes are one of the most significant and most performed works of Chopin in the world. If aesthetic considerations or musical analyzes are not lacking about them, no monograph has been devoted to them so far. This gap should be addressed by this volume. The story of the creation of the Preludes , their completion in Majorca, their edition and reception is mentioned in an initial chapter - follows a musical commentary of each of the twenty-four plays with, in the center of the book, a reflection on the originality of the work and its place in the production of the author. Finally, here is presented for the first time a panorama of the influence and descent of the Preludes until the 20th century.
