Didactic reflections on music education

The chapters in this book are addressed to teachers, trainers, and music student-teachers. They tackle topics related to the transmission of musical knowledge whatever the specificities of the environments in which they intervene (national education or culture). They are the result of observations on teaching and training that I share with music teachers for many years. They offer ideas for reflection and answers to certain questions raised by the didactics of musical practices.

What can we understand by didactics of music education ?? Is it not about understanding musical knowledge practices to convey them? How are these musical practices taught? Are the tools of didactics the only ones today able to help in the teaching and the training of the professors of music? What are the professional gestures of the musician-teacher and what pedagogical practices can we imagine in the years to come?

We use various didactic and pedagogical tools to answer these questions that take into account the contexts in which music teachers teach.

I hope that this book is for us, teachers of music, the opportunity to reflect on these living processes that are the musical knowledge, and the questions they ask us when we try to transmit them.
